Mani Swap with Acidicice!

Hey y'all! Today on the blog I have some mani swap nails to share with you. I have practically been begging Acidicice to do a mani swap with me since we met a few months ago and she finally caved! I totally fell in love with her Little Mermaid inspired nails that she did a few months back and just couldn't wait to recreate it. And I adore her take on my neon animal print mani. See that Orly Mirrorball she's holding? I sent it to her! Isn't that fun that polish can make it from one side of the world to the other?! 

Here's my solo from our mani swap:

I used Color Club Blue Heaven for my base and painted most of the details with acrylic paint and filled in Ariel's tail with Sinful Colors Nail Junkie. I did film a tutorial for this but it didn't turn out very good! I need more practice with freehand nail art and probably won't be filming any tutorials for them anytime soon!

Mani Swap with @okie.glam.mani!

Hey y'all! Today on the blog I have a mani swap to share with you! These were super fun and a good way to say goodbye to my neons for a while...maybe. A true polish enthusiast never sticks to trends or season appropriate colors, AMIRITE?!

I did this mani swap with a sweet friend of mine, @okie.glam.mani on Instagram and really loved how both of our swapped versions turned out! Make sure you head over to her Instagram and show her version of mine some love! 

I started with painting Glam Glaze Back to Back Blue on all of my nails except the ring finger. On that nail I painted GGal White Pointer as a base for my rainbow. Once the base colors were dry, I used the entire Graffiti Collection from Glam Glaze to dot on the rainbow in traditional color order, starting by my cuticle. I used my largest sized dotting tool and went row by row, giving each row a minute or two to dry before going to the next one. On the blue nails, I used the same large dotting tool and GGal White Pointer to dot on the clouds. Once everything was dry, I top coated with Seche Vite and let dry. Then I added Essie Gel Setter as my final topcoat. Yes, I used two topcoats - the addiction is real! I'm going to have a review coming of the Essie Gel Setter next week I think. I did a video tutorial on Youtube to show how I did these nails as well. Click below to see it in action!

Mani Swap with @color_obsessed30!

Hey y'all! Today on the blog I have a mani swap to share with you! This was a part of my monthly collab with some nail friends of mine where we are randomly paired up via random.org and swap manis. I always look forward to doing these because it really pushes me to try new combos. This month was no exception. I was paired up with @color_obsessed30 who had done a beautiful nude animal print skittle mani that I fell in love with. Keep reading to find out how I completed my mani - and make sure you go check her out on Instagram and show her some love!

I started off with a base coat of Zoya Leah - one of the beautiful neutrals from the Satin line that they released earlier this year. Its this nude that sometimes looks sort of pink and sometimes looks sort of grey. If grey and pink had a baby....

Anyway, I put two coats of Zoya Leah down and let it dry - then I went back in with my smallest dotting tool and some black acrylic paint to make the...leopard? print. Its been brought to my attention that a lot of us in the western part of the world have confused both ourselves and Google on which is cheetah and which is leopard. I believe cheetah has a spot in the middle with irregular black around it and leopard is like a negative space version. Haha. 

I replicated what @color_obsessed30 did by completely covering my pinkie and ring with the spots and then doing a ruffian version on my index and middle. Once the acrylic paint was dry, I top coated with Seche Vite and that's it! Such a simple nail art tutorial that makes a big, chic statement. I wore this for two full days because I loved it so much.

Monthly mani swap!

Hey y'all! 

Today on the blog, I have my monthly mani swap to share with you. I adore how these turned out! I was paired with @crooked_mani over on Instagram. If you're not following her, you totally should be!

Right away when I was paired with her, I knew that I would choose her neon lead light mani because hello? Isn't is perfection? I love that she chose a bright neon mani to recreate as well. Great minds! Here's a solo shot of mine:

UberChic Beauty stamping plate and Shinespark Polish 90's Kids neon jellies 

I started with a white base of Orly White Tips and stamped over it with Zoya Willa using UberChic plate 3-03. I topcoated with Seche Vite and allowed it to dry to protect my stamping from smearing. Once it was dry, I set in with my jellies and a tiny dotting tool and carefully filled in the image with different colors. I only did the four nails you see here and it took me just over an hour! Worth it! I topcoated again to protect the design. My only regret is that I didn't use a blacker polish for stamping. My go to, holy grail black stamping polish is by Funky Fingers, called Black Knight. I had run out but wanted to get my swap mani done. Next time I do a design like this, I will definitely use the Black Knight.

I so love doing mani swaps and look forward to doing so monthly. Do you like mani swaps? I feel like they better me as a nail artist and push me to do things I wouldn't have normally tried otherwise.

Monthly Mani Swap!

Hey y'all! 

Today on the blog I have this month's mani swap to share with you! I love doing mani swaps because it pushes me to try things I might not otherwise try. This month I was paired with a super talented nail artist by the name of @manicallypolishious on Instagram. She recently did a neon green half moon dotticure and I fell in love. I have never tried half moons before so I was pretty nervous. Let me show you how it turned out! 

Our originals are on the left. She recreated my matte flakie mani and totally NAILED it. <3 

Here's the solo shot of mine. She used green iridescent glitter as an embellishment but I didn't have anything like it so I went with a black rose charm. I didn't have any vinyls to use for this mani so I freehanded the half moon and cleaned up the line using acetone and a small brush. 

So I fell so hard for this mani but the rose charm was too big for me to actually wear, so I removed it and matted all of my nails. I actually left this on for almost 3 full days! Can you believe it?

Yes, I was taking pictures of my nails in the car. You know you do it too! #dontjudgeme haha. 

Anyway, now that I've shown you too many pictures of the same mani, I can ask - what do you think of this mani? What's a nail art technique that you'd like to try but never have? 

Monthly mani swap!

Hey y'all!

Today on the blog I have the pictures from the monthly mani swap I participate in! 

My lovely partner hails from a fantastic group I'm a part of on Babycenter. It's truly the happiest place on the Internet. You can find her on INSTAGRAM (and you should because she's super talented)! I picked her quatrefoil design and she picked my houndstooth design. I love how they turned out! 

Here's a picture of what I used: 

Left to right: Nail Envy, Funky Fingers Partly Cloudy, Zoya Lordeana, Seche Vite, and NYC Matte Me Crazy. I also used my large green dotting tool and the medium sized blue one for the design. The awesome thing that I couldn't get a picture of was the solar changing properties of Partly Cloudy. The couple of days I wore this mani, there was no sun!

Mani swap nails - distressed fish scales!

A few days ago, I did a mani swap with my friend @theirishbeauty on Instagram. When I saw her distressed mani with a fish scale accent, I fell in love. Here is my recreation. The colors I used to achieve this look are OPI Moon Over Mumbai, LA Colors Atomic, Sinful Colors Why Not, Sinful Colors Black On Black, and Sinful Colors Nail Junkie. I hand painted the fish scales with a small detail brush.
