Product Review: bornprettystore holo vinyls

Hey y'all! I'm back today to share some nail art and my review of some nail vinyls from bornprettystore. Daaaaamn Pish! Back at it again with the bornpretty reviews! Yeahhhh...its been a while but things were just so flippin' crazy for a while with the move. We only moved 30 minutes away but its no joke getting your house on the market and buying a new one while selling your old one! 

Anyway, I was approached by bornprettystore.com to start reviewing again and decided to go ahead wth it. These pretty little holo vinyls were the first thing I decided to try. Now, I know what you're thinking - whats the point of them being holographic if they're just vinyls? Well I think in a perfect world, you're supposed to cut them down to fit on your nail and leave them there like decals but ain't nobody got time fo dat. At least, *this* nobody ain't. I knew as soon as I got them that I was just going to use them like full nail stencils because that just made more sense to me. I included a short tutorial on Instagram that I'll put down below. I started with a base of Vapid's Surprise! I'm Drunk and topcoated in preparation for the vinyls. Your base should be 100% dry before attempting to use any vinyls whatsoever, otherwise the vinyl will pull your base color up. Yuck, no one wants that. Its happened to me - cue throwing things across my office. Once my base was dry, I cut along the borders of the vinyls and removed them from the plastic backing. I touched the vinyl to the back on my hand to remove some of the stickiness and then placed it on my nail. I pushed down to make sure that it was completely in contact with my nail surface and then placed some liquid latex (Vapid's Catsuit) around my cuticle before sponging on my color. I used a regular latex free makeup sponge cut to size to sponge on the coral polish (LynBDesigns Miami) until it reached opacity. I immediately removed the vinyl and the latex to reveal my design. Once it was dry, I topcoated again to seal everything in. The index and pinkie are just a couple of dots that I did with my dotting tools. Boom! Fancy nail art! 

A couple of things to note about these vinyls - they're a bitch to get off the plastic backing. I recommend doing it before you paint your nails and just stick them to the top of a polish bottle or your acetone or something because once your nails are painted, you don't want to have to pick these suckers off the backing. They're pretty thin and don't have much structure to them once the back is off so smoothing them down was a bit of a struggle. They do come pre-weeded (the negative space was already there) so that's a plus! Additionally, because they're nice and thin, theoretically you could use them as a decal and topcoat them but I didn't try that myself. They're also only $2 for a sheet of 12.

Review: Stamping Polish From bornprettystore!

Hey y'all! Today on the blog I have a review of two colors of stamping polish from bornprettystore to share with you, one gold and one white. One I was rather pleased with, the other, not so much. I typically have great experiences with bornprettystore products so I was really disappointed that one of these was completely unusable.

The first one of the two that I tried out was the gold. The quality of this polish was fantastic. No funny smell, super opaque, and gave crisp lines with each stamp. The BPS polishes don't have names or ingredient labels so we will just call this one "Gold". Gold shows as a bright metallic stamp on the nail and it stamped well over light and dark colors. I have a macro of it on the stamper and on my nail below.

The second one I have to show you is the white. There's nothing to say about this one except its awful. I couldn't even do a mani with it, that's how bad it was. The consistency was something akin to watered down white out. You can see the macro on my stamper down below to see what I mean:

Its possible that I received a poor bottle and that's why the consistency is so poor so I will be reaching out to BPS to let them know how bad it was. 

Shoving the white to the side (or the trash :P), let me show you the full mani I did with the gold! I stamped it over Madam Glam Endless Night using a Cici&Sisi plate and I adored how it came out. Look how bright and shiny it is!

Review: Stamping Plate From bornprettystore!

Hey y'all! Today on the blog I have a review of a stamping plate from bornprettystore to share with you. I'm basically obsessed with the mani that I did with this plate so let's just jump right in to the photos and review!

I'm always pleased with the performance of my BPS plates and BP-71 was no exception to that. Its got a romantic love theme which is perfect for silhouette manis. I love that all of the images play off of each other as BPS has a knack for making plates that have random images on them from time to time. Each image that I picked up on this plate picked up fully and crisply with no issues. The plate felt evenly etched and very good quality.

I decided to go with a hazy, romantic day walk in the woods for the mani that I did with this plate. Let me show you how it turned out:

The images stamped in red are from BP-71, all of the other images came from another plate that I reviewed from BPS, you can read that review HERE. I started on my bare nail with no base color and then used a sheer black jelly that I frankened to start giving that hazy, rainy look. I stamped a line of trees using M Polish Cayuga, added another layer of jelly, stamped the same trees with M Polish Pekin, layered more jelly, and then topcoated with KBShimmer Clearly On Top. Once everything was dry, I stamped the couple with the umbrella image and the "LOVE" image from BP-71 using M Polish I Need A Vacation and topcoated with KBShimmer Clearly On Top once more to seal it all in.

Product Review: Loose Glitter from bornprettystore!

Hey y'all! Today on the blog I have a product from bornprettystore to share with you. I had never used loose glitter before and have decided recently to try to push myself outside of the box when I'm selecting things to review from BPS. I actually had a lot of fun using these, though I can't say I was very proficient in using them. Haha. If you'd like to hear how I used these, skip past the break.

This mani was actually done a couple of weeks ago in honor of all the babies who went to heaven too soon. October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness month and many of my close friends have lost littles so I did this mani for them.

I started with a dry white base on my pinkie finger and started adding topcoat just in the places I wanted to place the glitter. I used a tiny dotting tool to place each glitter on my nail, adding more topcoat when it started to get too dry. Once they were all placed down in the ribbon shape, I topcoated once more to seal all the glitter in and thats it! Review: Nail Wraps from bornprettystore

Hey y'all! Today on the blog I have a review of some nail wraps from bornprettystore to share with you. I am not a lover of nail wraps because I find them difficult to use and these were no exception to my previous experience. If you are not adept at using nail wraps, you won't like these. I'll get into more after the break. 

These wraps came packaged inside a plastic sleeve with a protective plastic cover over them. The came stuck to a cardboard backing and required peeling off, which is pretty standard for nail wraps. A small, coarse nail file comes with them to use to file the excess off at the tip of your nail. 

Heres the thing about these wraps - they are entirely too stiff. They aren't malleable at all, they don't stick to your nail or lie flat. I have a slightly different nail shape than "normal" but I felt like they should at least stick to the bed of my nail. As you can see from the photos, the cuticle line is super uneven and couldn't be adjusted in any way except for cutting which is sort of impossible once they're already on your nails. They were so thick and difficult to mold to my nail that I couldn't get the excess to file off my nails so you can see in the pictures that I sort of gave up after working very long and hard to get it off. These were just a major bust for me.

Black stamping polish from bornprettystore review

Hey y'all! Today on the blog I have a review of the Temix black stamping polish from bornprettystore to share with you. This is a pretty good black stamping polish in terms of quality but I do have a few reservations about it, so let's jump right in and I'll let you know all of my thoughts! 

First impressions about this polish were that its consistency and formula were pretty standard for a stamping polish. I found the polish to be very thick and inky, which is to be expected from a creme stamping polish. I was slightly off put by the smell - the only other polishes I stamp with are either regular nail polish or M Polish stamping polishes, neither of which have a very strong smell in comparison. Temix has a smell more similar to Seche Vite or other polishes that are not 3 free. That being said, I do not know the ingredients of this polish nor is it listed on the sight. I did email my contact at BPS to see if she could find out but she was unsure and told me that they would update the website when possible to reflect the ingredients list. 

As far as actual stamping goes, Temix kinda hit right in the middle for me - while definitely more opaque than nail polish, it didn't play nicely with my Creative Shop stamper, and I had to use a sticky marshmallow stamper in order to be able to pick up an image without patchiness. The polish worked wonderfully with my marshmallow stamper but considering not everyone owns multiple stamping heads, I can imagine that this polish might be frustrating for some to use. 

The image transferred nicely to my nail - in this case I used it to make a decal. The other polishes didn't smear the black around when I was filling in my image, nor did my topcoat smear the black image either. 

Overall - I didn't really have issues with this polish and do think it works well, but it bothers me that I don't know the ingredients, particularly in light of the nail communities recent issues in transparency with another brand (looking at you, Mentality!) and I don't like that I can't use my preferred stamper with it. Bornprettystore rose stamping plate review!

BP-73

Hey y'all! Today on the blog I have a review of a round stamping plate from bornprettystore.com to share with you. As per usual with these round BPS plates - I was very happy with the quality of this plate. Along with the cohesiveness of the plate, the etching was deep on all of the images which means a clear image upon pickup! YAS! Let's jump right into the specifics of the plate, how my mani turned out, and where you can find this little guy!

The theme of this plate is ROSES! I was drawn to this plate because I feel like roses can be used in a multitude of different mani ideas, adding a classic and beautiful twist to your nails. This plate in particular is nice because it can be used just for the outline, for advanced stamping decals, or for lead lighting purposes. With such a versatile plate - the possibilities are endless, making this plate good for any stamping lover. 

I started out with a base of Lorelei Lacquer Hypnotic on my middle and pinkie, and Liquid Chrome by Shinespark Polish on my index and ring. Once my base was dry on the index and ring, I stamped the image from the top middle of the plate using M Polish Cayuga and my Creative Shop Stamper from whatsupnails to create the base for my rose lead lighting. Once my stamping outline was dry, I went back in with Shinespark Ballerina Bunny and Max Splash from the 90's Kids Collection to create the color on the petals on the roses. Once that was dry, I top coated with Seche Vite and that's it!

Bornprettystore Tribal Water Decals Review!

Hey y'all! Today on the blog I have this mani using tribal water decals from bornprettystore.com to share with you! These were SO easy to use (definitely saying something for me since I am usually terrible with full nail decals of any sort) and I even did a live demo on my Youtube channel to show you how they work! Before I get into how I did the mani, let me show you how these little guys come packaged:

 They come inside a little plastic package with a cardboard surround to help prevent them from bending. You simply remove the film packaging, cardboard and plastic front of the decals and you're left with just the sheet of decals themselves. You'll want some scissors so that you can cut them out to fit your nails better, and a container of room temperature water similar to this:

To complete this mani, I first started with a base coat to protect my natural nail - I use Nail Magic. Once my base coat was dry, I cut out around the decals I wanted to use to make them fit better to the size of my nail. Using tweezers, I dipped one into my water and held it there for about 15-20 seconds until it started lifting off of the paper backing. I took the paper backing off and placed the decal onto my nail and sort of smoothed it around until I had it where I wanted it. The nice thing about decals like this is that you can continue to manipulate them until they dry. I started the smoothing from the middle of my nail and outwards towards the tip and cuticle so that I could remove any bubbles. Then I molded the excess around the tip to the shape of my nail. After it was mostly dry, I started cleaning up the excess with pure acetone and my cleanup brush to make sure it was nice and neat. I added Indigo Bananas LiLoo (Lithium Loo) on my other nails. Then I top coated with Seche Vite. Here's the final result:
