Lisa Frank inspired mani using Shinespark Polishes!

Hey y'all!

Today on the blog, I have these super bright cheetah print gradient nails! I am so happy with how these turned out! Keep reading to find out how I did them!

For this mani, I used the entire line of Shinespark Polish's maiden collection called 90's Kid's Collection. These polishes were inspired by Lisa Frank. Y'all all remember Lisa Frank stuff - you either had an entire collection of it or you were jealous of someone that had it. I was in the latter category.

I guess you could say that I was inspired by the polish maker's inspiration. I went Google image searching and ran across this little guy:

Isn't he darling? It makes me want to go buy a new trapper keeper and some stickers just to make up for never having Lisa Frank as a preteen girl. :D

Moving right along, here's a picture of what I used to create this mani:

Left to Right: Black acrylic paint, Shinespark Ballerina Bunny, Rainbow Chaser, Markie, Peekaboo, Dancing Dolphins, Max Splash, Zoya Purity, Seche Vite

I started with a base coat of Essie protein base (not pictured) to protect my nail. Once I had that on all of my nails, I put a base of Zoya Purity down to make the neons pop. I did two coats of Purity and allowed it to dry. Once it was mostly dry, I put liquid latex around all of my nails to protect my skin from the mess of doing a gradient. I got mine HERE. I allowed the latex to dry which only takes a couple of minutes. Taking a regular cosmetic sponge that I purchased from Target, I started doing a vertical gradient on each nail. To make it fade into the next color, I used the previous color along with a new color on each nail. For example, Ballerina Bunny and Rainbow Chaser, then Rainbow Chaser and Markie, then Markie and Peekaboo, so on and so forth. This allowed every nail to be different but seamlessly blend into a rainbow gradient across all of my nails. Once I had done this on all of my nails, I went back with the small end of my yellow dotting tool and some black acrylic paint and started making the random little cheetah spots on each of my nails. After completing that on all nails, I topped with Seche Vite and BAM! Lisa Frank all over my nails!

I was so thrilled that my vision came to life right on my nails that I really didn't want to take this mani off but had to for other mani challenges and swatching.

You can find Shinespark Polish on her WEBSITE and follow her new releases and news on her INSTAGRAM. This collection is brand new and still available.

Did you have any Lisa Frank stuff growing up? What was your favorite?

  1. We never had any Lisa Frank stuff over here in South Africa. I think your mani is freaking awesome. I really love the neon gradient! I need to say something though...these spots are *leopard* print. Do not Google cheetah print, Google has learned from (I assume) America that this is cheetah print. Google images of cheetahs, then leopards. As an African this drives me insane! Sorry, this rant is not aimed at you specifically, I just finished watching Nail'd It! and have some pent up rage over this issue particularly. Educate all the people :)
