Shinespark Polish Swatch And Review: Reformulated 80's Neon CollectionPart 2

Hey y'all! Today on the blog I have part 2 of my swatch and review of the reformulated 80's Neon Collection by Shinespark Polish, you can see part one HERE. As I stated in Tuesday's post, Shinespark Polish originally released this neon collection back in March for her spring launch. As a new indie, Molly got a lot of feedback from her testers, swatchers, and customers about her neon collection - some of the feedback was lack of opacity in certain shades, some requiring up to 4 coats for full opacity, other feedback was that many were hoping to watermarble with their 80's neons and were having difficulty. She took the 80's Neon Collection back to the drawing board and completely revamped the formula on this beautiful collection. She added pigment to the 4 coaters, changed the suspension base to make them easy to marble, and she added a color - Totally Teal! 

I purchased the original 80's collection back in March and loved them as they were so when Molly asked me to swatch and test the watermarble capability of her reformulated version, I gladly accepted! So let's get into the second half of this collection, shall we?

The fifth polish in the collection is Glam Green, a fluorescent neon green creme with subtle micro shimmer throughout. This swatch shows 3 coats plus topcoat and no white undie. The photo makes it look almost pistachio but its not quite that light in person, its actually a little deeper but definitely a wearable green. It would look FAB in a pedicure with a tan. Again, as has been the case with all of the reformulated versions of this collection, this formula is on the thicker side but I didn't experience any difficulty applying in thin coats.

The sixth polish in this collection is Totally Teal which is a newly released shade that was not available in the original 80's Neon Collection. I love that she added a teal! Totally Teal is a bright blue leaning teal creme with a jelly-like finish This swatch shows 2 coats plus topcoat with no white undie. Looking at the swatch now, I am sure that a 3rd coat would have brought complete opacity but in person, it looked opaque with 2 which is why I left it like this for the photo. A little VNL doesn't bother me but a 3rd coat would easily take care of it. The formula on this one was nice, a little thinner than the others in the collection and very easy to apply.

Bouncin' Blue

The seventh polish in this collection is Bouncin' Blue, a bright cornflower blue creme with subtle micro shimmer throughout. This swatch shows 2 thin coats with topcoat and no white undie. Ughhhhh this blue is everything that is right and good in the world. I love this color and kinda just want to take a bath in it. Too much? Well...its really pretty. Don't judge me! The formula was a little thicker on this one like most of the others but applied nicely in 2 coats.

Psych'd Purple

The final polish in this collection is Psych'd Purple, a vibrant orchid creme with subtle micro shimmer throughout. This swatch shows 2 coats with topcoat and no white undie. The formula on Psych'd Purple is identical to the others in the collection - thicker but easy to apply. Each of the polishes in this collection self levels well and leaves no bald patches or brush strokes behind. 

That concludes part 2 of my two part review of the newly reformulated 80's Neon Collection from Shinespark Polish. I really enjoyed swatching these and playing around with them for watermarbling! Shinespark Polish Swatch and Review: Reformulated 80's Neon CollectionPart 1

Hey y'all! Today on the blog I have a swatch and review of the newly reformulated Shinespark Polish 80's Neon Collection. This collection was originally released in March by Shinespark Polish and consisted of 7 colors - Pumped Pink, Radical Red, Outrageous Orange, Yuppie Yellow, Glam Green, Bouncin' Blue, and Psych'd Purple. After receiving some feedback that some took 3-4 coats to become opaque (I'm looking at you Yuppie Yellow and Glam Green), she decided to change up her formula. She recently redid this to add more pigment so they were more opaque and she added a teal color. She also changed suspension bases so now....THEY WATERMARBLE! YAAAAAAS! Who doesn't love a neon collection that watermarbles?

I personally purchased the original 80's neon cremes but Molly asked me if I would swatch the newer version and watermarble with them. I was absolutely honored to do so as she is a good friend of mine and I love her polishes! So let's get started with the swatches! All photos are taken inside my light box, the difference between the swatch with the bottle and the swatch without comes from the slight angle change of my hand.

The first polish in the collection is Pumped Pink, a neon Barbie pink creme with subtle micro shimmer throughout. My swatch shows 2 coats with topcoat, no white undie. Look how bright! The formula on this one is a bit thicker than the original formula but I had no trouble doing two thin coats for complete coverage.

Radical Red

The second polish in the collection is Radical Red, a neon coral-ly red creme with subtle micro shimmer throughout. My swatch shows 2 coats with topcoat and no white undie. This one is easily one of my favorites of the collection and has been since the original release of this collection. It is so very bright in person and applies evenly with no streaky spots in 2 thin coats.

Outrageous Orange

The next polish in the collection is Outrageous Orange, a true neon orange creme with subtle micro shimmer throughout. My swatch shows 2 coats with topcoat with no white undie. This one reminds me of those orange creamsicle ice creams that I used to get from the ice cream truck in the summer. Again, the formula on the newer ones is a tad thicker than the original version but they go on easily in thin coats.

Yuppie Yellow

The fourth polish in the collection is Yuppie Yellow, a fluorescent highlighter yellow creme with subtle micro shimmer throughout. I ADORE this polish. I usually stay away from wearing yellows because they clash with my skin but this one is phenomenal. My swatch shows 3 coats with topcoat with NO white undie.

Nail It! Magazine update!

Hey y'all!

Just popping in to give an update on a previous post I made about Nail It! Magazine. Here's the original post: Nail It! Magazine submissions!

Nail It! Magazine regularly accepts submissions from nail artists to feature in the magazine and one of the prompts they were looking for recently was NEON for the July/August 2015 issue. I submitted two, this one being my favorite:

And mine was featured! I am a published nail artist in Nail It! Magazine, y'all! I am so super excited and thrilled, and giddy, and.....BURSTING with all the happy things on the inside. It has renewed my love for nail art to feel validated in this community and business. To know that I am not only doing this for my own personal happiness but that other people out there think I'm pretty good at it! Shoutout to the maker of Shinespark Polish for making the beautiful neons that I used for this mani. <3

So that's it, just wanted to share my excitement as I said in my previous post on this subject that I would update you guys. I couldn't be happier and I plan to churn out some kickass manis to make up for the time I've been gone.

Shinespark Polish, 90's Kid's Collection swatch and review: part 1

Hey y'all! 

Today on the blog I have the first half of the Shinespark Polish 90's Kid's Collection for swatch and review. The 90's Kid's Collection is the maiden collection from Shinespark Polish. This collection launched on February 28th, 2015 and is currently available for purchase. 

Left to right: Ballerina Bunny, Rainbow Chaser, Markie, Peekaboo, Dancing Dolphins, Max Splash, and Moondust (not a part of this section of the review, look for it in part 2). 

Let me start off by saying that every polish in this collection has a similar formula. Each of these polishes is a neon jelly with subtle shimmer. All of my swatches show 3 coats with topcoat. The formula on all of these polishes is fantastic; they go on smooth and stay where you put them. The only reason they require more than two coats is due to the jelly finish. These polishes dry relatively quickly and dry down to a semi-matte finish on their own, as do most neons. I had no patchiness or bald spots on my nail during application of any of them. Overall, this collection is most definitely a winner. 

Let's move on to the swatches and reviews of each polish. We will start with the first three in the collection: Ballerina Bunny, Rainbow Chaser, and Markie.

First in the collection is Ballerina Bunny. This polish is a neon jelly with a subtle shimmer that has a slight blue shift. Shown below in 3 coats plus topcoat, you can see how beautiful this polish is with a high gloss finish. The formula is perfect and applies easily.

Second up, we have Rainbow Chaser. This polish is a neon orange jelly with subtle shimmer. Shown here in 3 coats plus topcoat, this polish reminds me so much of Crush soda! The formula is the same as all others in this collection, very smooth and easy to apply.

Third in the collection is Markie. This neon yellow polish with subtle shimmer. The shimmer in this one was a bit more obvious than in any of the others. The formula was the same on this one as the others, although slightly more sheer. It looks terrible with my skin tone, but all yellows do. Its not a fault of this polish by any means. Shown below in 3 coats plus topcoat.

 Let me show you a few things I've done with this collection so far in terms of nail art.

The very first thing I tried with this collection watermarbling. I was pleased with the result. I wore Ballerina Bunny on my index, pinkie, and thumb and used the entire collection in the marble on the two middle fingers. They spread decently but do require a little working to get them into a design. They are a little difficult to see in the water because of their sheer, jelly consistency but they produce a beautiful result if you are willing to work with them a bit in this application.

The most recent mani I did with these polishes is shown below. I used Ballerina Bunny and Pahlish Glittoris to make a pink jelly sandwich on my index, pinkie, and thumb. I used Markie and Zoya Purity on my middle two nails to make a jelly pond. This mani was inspired by the Yellow Polka Dot Bikini song. :)

That concludes the first half of this two part review. I really like this collection from Shinespark Polish and feel as though all of the polishes are very good quality. If you're looking for a fun new way to wear neons this summer, definitely check these out. You won't be disappointed in these polishes or their formulas. Nail Polish Indie Brand - Barbie Girl

Hey y'all!

Tonight on the blog, I have this beautiful polish to show off (again). I reviewed several polishes from Nail Polish Indie Brand back in the fall but I feel like I've really amped up my swatching game since then. So here we have a new swatch of Barbie Girl! 

This polish combines all three of my favorite things that one can find in the polish world: holographic glitter, jelly squishyness, and bright neon pigment! 

I mean, just look at it! LOOK! 

Barbie Girl is such a beautiful polish with a winning formula. It is a jelly polish so while it has great converage, you can still see the visible nail line. It is shown here in two coats with one coat of Seche Vite. 

It definitely looks different in certain lighting but the neon always pops.
